  • He was born in Santa Clara (Villa Clara), Cuba, on April 22, 1982. He began his music studies at the Casa de Cultura in Santa Clara, where he started studying bass. At the age of 15, he continued his studies at the National School of Art, spending 2 years of his career as a student at this school. He began his professional career performing at the Jazz Café with musicians from Irakere, the great orchestra of Chucho Valdés, and at La Zorra y El Cuervo (Havana), two of the most well-known venues in Cuba. That same year, he also began playing with Orlando Valle (Maraca) and Otra Vision, one of the most important Latin Jazz groups in Cuba, led by the aforementioned flutist Orlando Valle (Maraca).

    Reinier has performed at major festivals with international recognition in the United States, Europe, and Canada, such as the Montreal Festival. At the age of 19, he graduated from the school as a professional and instrumentalist and teacher of double bass. One year later, he began his higher studies at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana. That same year, he recorded with Chucho Valdés for the album La Rumba Soy Yo and also recorded with David Murray. He has participated as an accompanist in Jojazz, a competition for young jazz musicians in Cuba, and has also performed at the Havana Jazz Festival, Jazz Plaza: Chucho Valdés and Michel Legrand in a duo, Reinier Elizarde Ruano on double bass, and Maestro Giraldo Piloto on drums. Later, he began working with a popular dance music orchestra called Pupy y los que son son, led by César (Pupy) Pedroso, one of the creators of the musical phenomenon “Songo,” and founder as pianist, composer, and arranger of the well-known international orchestra LOS VAN VAN, now considered the master of Cuban Timba. Reinier stayed with the renowned group for 4 years, achieving great success and solidifying his knowledge in various musical genres.

  • Nació en Santa Clara (Villa Clara), Cuba, el 22 de abril de 1982. Comenzó sus estudios musicales en la Casa de Cultura de Santa Clara, donde inició su formación en el bajo. A los 15 años, continuó sus estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Arte, cursando dos años de su carrera como estudiante en dicha institución. Inició su carrera profesional presentándose en el Jazz Café junto a músicos de Irakere, la gran orquesta de Chucho Valdés, y en La Zorra y el Cuervo (La Habana), dos de los locales más reconocidos de Cuba. Ese mismo año, también comenzó a tocar con Orlando Valle (Maraca) y Otra Visión, uno de los grupos de Latin Jazz más importantes del país, liderado por el mencionado flautista.

    Reinier ha participado en importantes festivales de reconocimiento internacional en Estados Unidos, Europa y Canadá, como el Festival de Montreal. A los 19 años, se graduó como profesional e instrumentista, así como profesor de contrabajo. Un año después, inició sus estudios superiores en el Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) en La Habana. Ese mismo año, grabó con Chucho Valdés para el disco La Rumba Soy Yo y también con David Murray. Ha participado como acompañante en Jojazz, un concurso para jóvenes jazzistas en Cuba, y se ha presentado en el Festival Jazz Plaza de La Habana, en conciertos como el dúo de Chucho Valdés y Michel Legrand, con Reinier Elizarde Ruano en el contrabajo y el maestro Giraldo Piloto en la batería.

    Posteriormente, comenzó a trabajar con una orquesta de música popular bailable llamada Pupy y los que son son, dirigida por César (Pupy) Pedroso, uno de los creadores del fenómeno musical Songo y fundador —como pianista, compositor y arreglista— de la reconocida orquesta internacional LOS VAN VAN, considerada hoy día como la cuna de la Timba cubana. Reinier permaneció cuatro años en este prestigioso grupo, cosechando grandes éxitos y consolidando sus conocimientos en diversos géneros musicales.

1982年4月22日、キューバ・ビジャ・クララ州サンタ・クララに生まれる。幼少期より音楽に親しみ、サンタ・クララのカーサ・デ・クルトゥーラ（Casa de Cultura）でコントラバスを学び始める。15歳で国立芸術学校に進学し、同校で2年間研鑽を積んだ。

プロとしてのキャリアは、キューバの著名なジャズクラブ「ジャズ・カフェ（Jazz Café）」や「ラ・ソラ・イ・エル・クエルボ（La Zorra y El Cuervo）」での演奏からスタート。ここでは、チューチョ・バルデス（Chucho Valdés）率いる伝説的グループ「イラケレ（Irakere）」のメンバーと共演を果たした。同年、キューバを代表するラテン・ジャズグループの一つオトラ・ビシオン（Otra Visión）に参加し、リーダーである名フルート奏者オルランド・バジェ（Orlando Valle / Maraca）と共に演奏活動を行った。

モントリオール・フェスティバルをはじめ、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、カナダの国際的に評価の高い主要フェスティバルに出演してきた。19歳で音楽学校を卒業し、プロのコントラバス奏者および指導者としての資格を取得。その翌年にはハバナの高等芸術院に進学した。同年、チューチョ・バルデス（Chucho Valdés）のアルバム「La Rumba Soy Yo」に参加し、さらにデヴィッド・マレイ（David Murray）とのレコーディングも行った。

また、キューバの若手ジャズミュージシャンの登竜門「JoJazz」コンペティションで伴奏を務め、ハバナ・ジャズ・フェスティバルにも出演し、「Jazz Plaza」では、チューチョ・バルデスとミシェル・ルグラン（Michel Legrand）のデュオに参加し、レイニエルがコントラバスを、名ドラマーのヒラルド・ピロト（Giraldo Piloto）がドラムを担当した。

その後、キューバの人気ダンス音楽オーケストラ「Pupy y los que son son」に加入。このグループは、音楽ジャンル「ソンゴ」の生みの親であり、キューバの伝説的バンド「ロス・バン・バン（Los Van Van）」の創設メンバーでもあるピアニスト、作曲家、アレンジャーのセサル・“プピ”・ペドロソ（César "Pupy" Pedroso）が率いていた。レイニエルはこの名門グループで4年間活躍し、幅広い音楽ジャンルへの理解を深めるとともに、大きな成功を収めた。
